Candela Arizaga speaks out after Facundo Moyano's arrest: "I make mistakes like anyone else"

Candela Arizaga, the young woman romantically linked to Facundo Moyano, spoke for the first time after the incident at the former congressman's apartment in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano. Through her social media, she assured that she is doing well and thanked those who reached out during the past hours. "I am already fine and my pet is too. Thank you to everyone who was concerned. I make mistakes like anyone else. To the people who criticize me, I wish them much love," she wrote in an Instagram story. The post came to light after Arizaga was discharged from Pirovano Hospital, where she had been hospitalized for several hours, as confirmed by the head of SAME, Alberto Crescenti. The episode occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when Arizaga left the building where Moyano lives, dressed in little clothing. The building manager, Nahuel Astrada, reported to the City Police that the former congressman rushed out after the young woman. Shortly after, both were intercepted at the corner of Virrey Vértiz and Sucre showing signs consistent with drug use, according to initial reports. Arizaga was assisted at the scene and then taken by SAME to Pirovano Hospital, where she remained hospitalized for several hours. Given the circumstances in which she was found and her initial statement, the Justice ordered Moyano's arrest, who was questioned for the crimes of minor injuries and unlawful deprivation of liberty in a context of gender violence. The former congressman regained his freedom on Tuesday night but remains charged while the investigation continues. As a preventive measure, the Prosecutor's Office prohibited him from approaching within 300 meters of Arizaga and from contacting her by any means. Additionally, he must establish a residence and appear before the Justice whenever summoned. The influencer's lawyer, Diego Storto, confirmed that the toxicology test detected cocaine use. However, he stated that it was not a "mutual consumption" and assured that his client still has difficulties reconstructing what happened. According to the account given by the young woman, both attended the match between River and Rosario Central on Sunday and then went to Moyano's apartment, where they began using drugs, and the situation spiraled out of control. Storto indicated that Arizaga felt scared, wanted to leave, and ultimately escaped from the property. Furthermore, the lawyer stated that he spent several hours with her trying to piece together what happened during the two nights she stayed with Moyano, and he presented himself in the case as her representative under the figure of particular victim. He also rejected the former congressman's claim that the case was already clarified. During his interrogation, Moyano denied having assaulted or prevented Arizaga from leaving. He claimed that they had an affectionate relationship and that they had never experienced episodes of physical or verbal violence. "My relationship with Candela, my girlfriend, has always been loving and affectionate. There has never been any kind of tension, let alone physical or verbal aggression," he maintained. Arizaga, for her part, initially stated from the hospital that Moyano had not hit her or done anything to her. Her lawyer clarified that it was a brief statement because she was still not in a condition to speak and anticipated that she would expand her testimony before the Criminal, Contraventional and Misdemeanor Prosecutor's Office No. 3 of Buenos Aires. The medical report confirmed an injury to one of her knees consistent with a fall in public. Injuries to her wrists and nails were also detected, the origin of which is still under investigation. Security cameras also recorded that Arizaga's French bulldog followed her when she left the building and crossed Del Libertador Avenue. During the journey, the animal was nearly hit by a vehicle. When the young woman was taken to the hospital, the building manager took care of the dog. After being discharged, Arizaga was able to reunite with her pet, named Mafia, and confirmed that it is in good condition.
