X (formerly Twitter) announced on August 8 the launch of its "Original Content Reward Program," aimed at rewarding creators who provide original insights, professional analysis, news reporting, creative content, and commentary. Effective immediately, X will stop accepting new applications for the revenue sharing program; existing users can continue to earn until September 7, 2026, and will receive their last three payments around August 14, August 28, and September 11. Starting September 8, eligible existing creators can apply to join the new program, with revenue distribution based on the "effective exposure" of original content, and the first payment is expected to be issued on August 28. Eligibility criteria include: being at least 18 years old, having a good account standing, subscribing to X Premium or Premium+, having at least 500 verified followers, and achieving at least 500,000 impressions on the home timeline from verified users in the past 90 days, while continuously publishing original content. The new program focuses on rewarding original writing, threads, reporting, analysis, videos, images, design works, and commentary with unique value; simple reposts, content from other platforms, and secondary publications lacking substantial analysis will not be rewarded. X emphasizes that it will support creators who can bring unique perspectives, expertise, and creativity to the platform.
