The Sui Foundation is introducing two types of quantum-resistant signature schemes for SUI. The quantum-safe vault is targeted for mainnet implementation in 2026, while native account authentication is planned for Q1 2027. ML-DSA-65 will be added as a native protocol signature scheme for general accounts, and SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s will be applied to vaults for high-value assets. The implementation schedule may vary based on independent audits and testnet feedback. Quantum-resistant cryptography is designed to protect against quantum computer attacks, addressing the vulnerabilities of existing public key cryptography. The U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) finalized ML-KEM, ML-DSA, and SLH-DSA as the ultimate quantum-resistant standards on August 13, 2024. Sui is promoting the transition to quantum resistance by replacing authentication keys instead of moving accounts and assets to different addresses. According to CoinGecko on the 12th, SUI was recorded at $0.6828, with a 24-hour DEX trading volume of $33.33 million. The Sui Foundation plans to validate the native ML-DSA-65 accounts on the testnet by the end of the year.
