JPMorgan noted that the second quarter earnings season has entered its later stages, with approximately 80%-85% of companies in the US and Europe having reported their results. This quarter, corporate earnings have shown strong performance, with EPS exceeding expectations in both the US and Europe, and a wide range of companies reporting better-than-expected results. The proportion of companies in the US and Europe reporting EPS above market expectations has significantly increased. Despite high market expectations prior to the earnings season, the overall EPS of S&P 500 constituents continues to rise. The percentage of companies lowering their earnings outlook has dropped to the lowest level since 2021. Year-on-year earnings growth for US companies reached 25%, while Europe saw 23%, both exceeding market consensus expectations. Revenue growth has been healthy, with year-on-year growth rates of 14% and 10% for the US and Europe, respectively. The main source of profit growth has been the energy sector, boosted by rising energy prices driven by geopolitical conflicts, with significant contributions also from the financial and technology sectors.
